Cat-Safe Vase

We love to have flowers in the house (whether grown in our garden or bought at our local farmers market), but with our large indoor cat family, this has had its challenges. Regular vases, nice as they can be, are always in danger of being tipped over and even sometimes breaking. Several times in the past we woke up to, or came home to, a disaster zone with water and flowers everywhere.

I designed this charming little stand to securely hold up to three small vases. The vases are 4 in tall and 3 in across and they are made from acrylic so pretty much unbreakable under normal use. The stand's chonky-rustic style serves two purposes. It compliments the 'cottage' aesthetic of flowers very nicely, and it also is very sturdy and bottom-heavy. It is hard to imagine a scenario in which a cat would be able to tip this stand over. This design has worked brilliantly for us and we now can display flowers without fear of further flower disasters.

The stand is available in our standard color palette. The colors shown in the pictures are: 'Mulling Spice' (one-vase stand), 'Midnight Blue' (two-vase stand) and 'Provence Blue' (three-vase stand).

NOTE: Cats may nibble on the flowers (some are more prone to this than others). Keep your cats safe by only displaying flowers that are non-toxic to cats! For a list of flowers safe for cats, see for example: here.

NOTE: As the vases are acrylic, they are not suitable for holding burning candles. Glass vases of similar dimensions could be purchased for that purpose, though personally, we think open flames and cats don't mix.
