Spacer for Tomahawk Trap Remote
The Tomahawk Trap Remote has a design flaw that can make it harder to trap cats when using box traps: the rod extends too far into the trap. When the trigger is pulled, the rod has to travel this extra length before the trap shuts. (See pictures.) This effectively causes there to be a delay in the trap door shutting, while at the same time there's a noise emanating from the receiver box. Cats will start to exit the trap as soon as they hear this noise and if they are fast enough, they can get out of the trap far enough to prevent the trap door from shutting. We have experienced failed trappings because of this problem.
While the rod length can be adjusted using the middle knob on the transmitter, even at the shortest setting this adjustment is not nearly enough to address this problem.
We designed this spacer to sit between the receiver and the box trap, effectively shortening the rod by 1/2 in. Now the end of the rod sits exactly under the trap door and the trap will shut as soon as the trigger is pulled, without delay.
Made from exterior grade lumber, this spacer will last many years in outdoor use.
