Feral & Stray Cat House “Midcentury Meowdern”

PROVEN DESIGN This design is very closely based on the original houses that we built for our backyard feral cats. We use this new design in our own backyard now as well.

DIMENSIONS The inside of the cubby is 18 in wide x 14 in deep x 14 in high. The footprint for the entire structure is 23 in x 23 in and it is overall 21 in tall from the ground to the highest point of the roof.

ELEVATED The cubby sits on a 4 inch high elevated platform to keep the inside cozy and away from ground moisture, bugs, etc.

TWO EXITS Apart from the main entrance, the house also features a window / emergency exit, the location of which can be configured to be either on the left or right side.

OPENABLE LID The lid unlocks and swings open to provide easy access for cleaning or maintenance. The lid has plenty of overhang to shield from rain and the lid lock is operated with a spring to make it raccoon-proof.

SEALED ROOF The lid is sealed with a non-toxic light gray waterproof rubber roofing material. The roof is sloped enough for rain & melting snow to run off, but flat enough to lounge on during nice weather.

OPTIONAL HEAT The house comes optionally with a pre-installed, high quality outdoor rated heated bed that fits inside the cubby perfectly (NOTE: an outdoor power outlet is required for the heated bed to operate). The heated bed has a built-in thermostat to keep it at a perfect temperature for cats and provides a gentle, very comfortable heat. The bed cover is removable and washable, additional bed covers are available.

QUALITY FINISH Fully weatherproofed, painted & trimmed by us. We can also do custom color for a small added charge, please see the FAQ.

PLEASE NOTE This stylish design works best for environments where it can be placed in a sheltered corner, such as a patio, against a fence or shed, by a tree etc. It will not work well for very exposed, very cold and very windy locations. (We are working on a house design for harsh environments, stay tuned!)

LEAD TIME These houses are handmade to order and will normally take about 2-3 weeks to ship. Lead time may need to be extended during times of high demand.
